The Speak & Spell is an edutainment toy first produced in the late 1970's, notable for its rudimentary text to speech capabilities.
The version shown here was produced between 1989 and 1992 and features a VFD. Also pictured are two leads from a USB A connector replacing the original battery leads, which manages to power the toy.
